About 5NP Advocacy
A lack of public and professional awareness remains a significant barrier to access. AW5NP hosts presentations and live demonstrations to educate communities, inspire future practitioners, and foster widespread understanding of the benefits of 5NP.
With unmatched expertise in all three areas, Nobi and Chuck lead these efforts with dedication and purpose. Their experience—and the urgent need for holistic, trauma-informed care—drives AW5NP to continue advancing the reach and impact of 5NP across diverse communities.
Advocacy is at the heart of our mission. In 2021, Nobi and Chuck led a successful effort to change Arizona state law governing the use of the 5-Needle Ear Acupuncture Protocol (5NP). Prior to this change, 5NP could only be administered for alcohol and drug treatment—and only within state-licensed or federally licensed treatment facilities.
Thanks to their advocacy, the law was revised to:
- Remove the location restriction
- Expand the scope of practice to include trauma
- Allow any individual to be trained to provide 5NP
This pivotal change reflects the true spirit of 5NP, which was originally created by and for communities—enabling peer mentors, community health workers, and others to deliver healing care directly to those who need it most.
Spreading Awareness & Understanding
Despite its benefits, 5NP remains unfamiliar to many. As a modality grounded in Eastern medicine principles, a lack of knowledge is one of the biggest barriers to access. That’s why AW5NP actively engages in outreach and education.
We’ve provided presentations, demonstrations, and free treatments at:
- Conferences
- Professional meetings
- Community events
- Employee wellness fairs
We’re available to present at business meetings, community centers, faith-based organizations, and more. These sessions help demystify 5NP, generate interest in treatment and training, and bring healing conversations into new spaces.
